CUT NAILIL

The LaBelle Nail Company produced cut nails in South Wheeling between 1852 and 2010.  None of the buildings remain.

BOCK BEER

 

Schmulbach Brewery operated in South Wheeling from 1882 to 1914, the beginning of WV prohibition. Many of the buildings still stand at the east end of 33rd Street.

FLOW BLUE

The Wheeling Pottery Company (1879-1912) produced beautiful Flow Blue ware, along with many other products. The company was reorganized as Wheeling Tile and operated 1912-1968.  Two of the three buildings are still in existence on 32nd Street.

PEACHBLOW

The J. H. Hobbs, Brockunier Company was an innovator in the glass industry and became one of the largest glass manufacturers in the U.S.  The beautiful “Wheeling Peachblow” pattern was developed by the company, which operated 1845-1898.  None of the glass company buildings remain.
